It’s one of the most common questions I get during consultations at Blume Med Spa: “When should I start Botox?” And like many things in aesthetics, the answer isn’t one-size-fits-all. But here’s the truth: you shouldn’t wait until deep lines are carved into your skin to start thinking about wrinkle relaxers.
The Best Time? When Fine Lines Are Starting to Become Visible at Rest
Botox works by relaxing the muscles that cause repetitive creasing in your skin—think frown lines (11s), crow’s feet, and forehead lines. So the ideal time to start is when you begin to notice fine lines that stay visible even when your face is at rest. These are early signs that your skin is starting to crease in a way that may become more permanent over time.
And if you’re not quite there yet? You can still be proactive. Medical-grade skincare, microneedling, and chemical peels are great ways to care for your skin in your 20s and early 30s before Botox is needed.
Prevention vs. Correction
Most of the women I see at my South Jersey med spa aren’t looking to freeze their faces or chase trends. They’re moms, professionals, caretakers—women who’ve been busy taking care of everyone else and suddenly look in the mirror wondering when those lines showed up.
Starting Botox earlier—when lines are still mild—often means you’ll need less product over time, and results are more subtle and natural. Waiting until lines are deeper usually requires more correction and a longer timeline to soften those etched-in creases.
Signs It Might Be Time
Here are a few signs you may be ready for your first treatment:
- You notice lines at rest between your brows (11s), on your forehead, or around your eyes
- Makeup is settling into fine lines more than it used to
- You feel like you look tired or tense, even when you’re not
- You’re curious and want to feel more confident in photos or daily life
Where Do We Inject?
At Blume, we most commonly treat:
- Forehead lines
- 11s (frown lines between the brows)
- Crow’s feet
But we’re also educating women on the benefits of strategic Botox in the lower face to support a refreshed, balanced look.
What to Expect
Your Botox journey starts with a complimentary one-hour consultation at our South Jersey suite. We’ll review your medical history, talk through your goals, and create a custom plan that fits your timeline, lifestyle, and budget.
Most patients come in every 3-4 months for maintenance and love how consistent treatments help them look rested, relaxed, and like themselves—just smoother.
Not Quite Ready?
That’s okay. Botox isn’t for everyone, and there are a few cases where it’s not recommended:
- If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding
- If you have certain neuromuscular or vision conditions
Still have questions? That’s what the consult is for. I’ll walk you through the science, the art, and the safety—and answer anything on your mind.
In the Right Hands, It’s Less About “Freezing” and More About Refreshing
If you’ve been wondering when the right time is to start, you’re not alone. And now you know: it’s not about a number, it’s about noticing the signs.
